NM500 Plates

Overview
NM500 Plates are high-strength, wear-resistant steel renowned for their exceptional hardness, with a Brinell hardness value reaching 500 (HBW). Designed primarily for applications requiring wear resistance, NM500 significantly extends the lifespan of equipment, reduces maintenance needs, and minimizes downtime, thereby lowering capital investment costs.

Features of NM500 Plates:

  • High wear resistance and durability.
  • Hardness range of 470-540 HBW.
  • Over three times the strength of ordinary low-alloy steel plates, with wear resistance increased by 2-3 times compared to standard steel.
  • Ideal for challenging environments and demanding applications.

Supply Range of NM500 Plates:

  • Thickness: 3 mm to 100 mm
  • Width: 2000 mm
  • Length: 6000 mm
  • Surface Finish: Black surface
  • Condition: Q+T (pre-hardened condition)

Equivalent Grades of NM500 Plate:

  • GBT 24186: NM500
  • JFE: JFE-EH500
  • SUMITOMO: K500
  • DILLIDUR: 500V
  • SSAB: Hardox 500
  • Nippon (Japan): Abrex 500
  • AM/NS (India): Rockstar 500
  • Jindal (India): Rockhard 500

Chemical Composition of NM500:

Element Content (%)
C ≤0.38
Si ≤0.70
Mn ≤1.70
P ≤0.020
S ≤0.010
Cr ≤1.50
Ni ≤1.00

Heat Treatment of NM500:

  • Quenching: Heat to 820-850°C, then quench in oil or water.
  • Tempering: Heat to 540-680°C, depending on the desired hardness.
  • NM500 plates are typically delivered in a Q+T condition.

Applications of NM500 Plates:
NM500 steel is utilized in industries demanding high wear resistance. Key applications include:

  • Mining equipment
  • Construction machinery
  • Heavy-duty trucks
  • Industrial machinery
  • Wear plates and liners

NM500 wear-resistant steel plates can also be used for producing various mechanical components, including:

  • Bearing races and crankshaft sleeves
  • Piston rods and oil pump rotor bodies
  • Engine connecting rod bolts, nuts, and washers
  • Hydraulic cylinder plunger rings and valve core seals
  • Tractor blade edges and mud scraper baffles

In engineering and construction, NM500 can be applied in:

  • Welded components for bridge support beams
