13CrMo4-5 Welding Process
The 13CrMo4-5 grade is characterized by excellent workability and weldability. The welding process allows these components to be welded to subsequent modules using standard procedures. After welding, the post-weld heat treatment follows these steps:
- Soft Annealing: Heat to 600-700°C.
- Normalizing: Heat to 910-940°C with air cooling.
- Relief Annealing: Cool from 660-710°C.
- Hardening: Heat to 890-910°C, followed by oil cooling at 900-930°C.
- Tempering: Temper in calm air at 650-720°C.
Benefits and Drawbacks of 13CrMo4-5 Plate
Benefits:
- Good strength and resistance in pressure vessel applications.
- Performs well in elevated temperature systems.
- Enhanced resistance to corrosive media due to superior chemical composition.
Drawbacks:
- Requires heat treatment after welding.

What is 13CrMo4-5 Steel Plate?
13CrMo4-5 is a high-grade, weldable pressure vessel steel. This chrome-moly grade features a superior concentration of chromium and molybdenum, providing excellent performance in high-pressure and elevated temperature systems. The material demonstrates outstanding anti-corrosion properties, enabling it to withstand various stress-induced environments. The low carbon EN 1.7335 Alloy Steel plate items exhibit good workability while maintaining superb strength and mechanical properties across different temperature ranges. Common applications include fittings, seamless tubes, and forgings.
13CrMo4-5 vs. 16Mo3
Both 13CrMo4-5 and 16Mo3 are chrome-molybdenum grades used in pressure vessels at elevated temperatures. However, 13CrMo4-5 features a higher content of chromium and molybdenum, offering better resistance against corrosive media. The tensile strength of 16Mo3 ranges from 440-590 MPa, with yield strength between 220-275 MPa. In contrast, 13CrMo4-5 offers a tensile strength of 450-600 MPa and a yield strength of 290-300 MPa.
