Description

S355J2+N steel with material number 1.0577 as per DIN EN 10025-2 is a non-alloy structural steel that is normalized and suitable for all common welding methods. It belongs to the S355 grade range, which includes S355JR, S355J0, S355J2, and S355K2, with varying Charpy impact test requirements.

Key Features of S355J2+N:

  • Yield Strength: Minimum 355 MPa for the lowest product thickness.
  • Impact Test: The notch impact test for S355J2+N is carried out at -20°C and must reach at least 27 J.
  • Designation:
    • S: Structural steel.
    • 355: Minimum yield strength (355 MPa).
    • J2: Longitudinal Charpy V-notch impact test at -20°C.
    • N: Normalized condition.

S355 Grades and Charpy Test Designations:

  • S355JR: Impact test at room temperature (27 J).
  • S355J0: Impact test at 0°C (27 J).
  • S355J2: Impact test at -20°C (27 J).
  • S355K2: Impact test at -20°C with a higher value of 40 J.
