Description
ASTM A403 WP 347 Pipe Fittings Overview
ASTM A403 WP 347 pipe fittings are available in a variety of sizes, shapes, and configurations to meet the needs of modern industrial markets. These fittings, including connectors, adapters, reducers, tees, and elbows, are designed to deliver leak-free connections and are offered in different thread types. Stainless Steel 347 Pipe Fittings are highly resistant to corrosion and oxidation, making them suitable for a wide range of environments, both man-made and natural. With a minimum of 10% chromium, these ferrous alloys offer excellent performance and reliability in various industries.
ASTM A403 WP 347H is the higher-carbon variant of the 347 alloy, providing enhanced creep resistance and higher strength at temperatures above 1000°F (538°C). These fittings are stronger than Type 304 stainless steel and can be welded using fusion or resistance methods. They are also heat-treated in the temperature range of 1010–1193°C, followed by water quenching. However, like most austenitic stainless steels, they cannot be hardened by heat treatment and are instead hardened through cold working.
347 Stainless Steel Elbows are commonly used to change the direction of flow in piping systems. They are available in two main configurations—90° and 45° angles—and are widely used in plumbing applications due to their excellent performance.

Basic Types of Stainless Steel 347 Elbows
- 90° Elbows: Used to make a 90-degree turn in the piping direction, commonly found in plumbing and fluid transportation systems.
- 45° Elbows: Designed for a 45-degree turn in the piping direction, providing a less abrupt angle compared to 90° elbows.
- Long Radius Elbows (LR): A radius that is 1.5 times the pipe diameter, used to minimize pressure drop and resist wear.
- Short Radius Elbows (SR): A radius equal to the pipe diameter, used in tight spaces where less clearance is available.
